To deliver effectual results, Dr K Shanmugavadivu designed a new bipolar needle to ablate the centre of Adenomyoma, with the help of a medical equipment company which had designed the needle under her guidance.Adenomyoma, which is formed by the trapped endometrial glands, which has invaded the muscle of the uterus due to various reasons, causing menstruation within the muscle of the uterus( myometrium) which swells due to collected blood and forms Adenomyoma.
In Adenomyoma ablation, through hysteroscopy procedure, the myometrium is cut open, ( Adenomyoma) and trapped menstrual blood is let out and endometrial glands are destroyed by the thermal ablation procedure with bipolar energy, thus preventing the collection of blood because the endometrial glands within the uterine muscle/ Myometrium is destroyed.
