IVF Ultrasound Guided Amino Infusion

IVF Ultrasound Guided Amino Infusion

Ultrasound-guided trans-abdominal infusion is a procedure in which normal saline or lactated ringer’s solution is infused into the uterus during pregnancy in case of premature ruptures of membranes through the apt usage and guidance of ultrasound. At Rhea IVF and Women’s Hospital, we try our absolute best to guarantee all our patients the best possible outcome. We want to be prepped and prepared for all the outcomes and problems that can arise during the course of your pregnancy. As we are focused on implementing safe and effective methods of medical practice, we make sure to utilise only the safest techniques with minimal risks involved. Under the guidance of our expert Dr K Shanmugavadivu, Rhea IVF and Women’s Hospital is at the forefront of innovation and progress in women’s health. As a given, we make it a point to learn and adapt to new and innovative methods of gynaecological medicine to provide all our patients with the best possible surgical outcome.

What happens during Ultrasound-guided amino infusion?

During Ultrasound guided amino infusion, the doctor will use ultrasound to locate the safest spot for the procedure, which doesn’t affect the baby or the umbilical cord, a small thin needle will be inserted to induce amino infusion into your uterus. This procedure usually lasts for one or two hours.

How can adenomyoma impact fertility?

Adenomyoma can increase the frequency of preterm labour and membrane ruptures. As it usually tends to grow from the endometrial tissue, it can also affect implantation, damage fertilised eggs, and inhibit embryo growth and development. Though there is no direct epidemiological evidence that proves this, analysing indirect and available data can make a good case for how adenomyoma affects fertility.

Benefits of Ultrasound Guided Amino Infusion

  • It can help to restore the deficient amniotic fluid in a condition called Oligohydramnios.
  • It can help prevent fetal asphyxia.
  • It can dilute meconium in the waters, thus reducing the risk of aspiration
  • It can reduce the risk of cesarean section due to fetal distress
  • It can minimise the costs associated with a longer hospital stay
  • There is also a procedure called Amniotic reduction for high risk pregnancies having excessive amniotic fluid – a condition called Polyhydramnios in which needle is passed through ultrasound guidance to remove excessive fluid compromising mother’s health.
