Poor Endometrium

Endometrium is the lining which covers the entire uterine cavity, studded with endometrial glands that provide enough nourishment for the Embryo to embed in the uterine cavity. The surrounding sub endometrial layer with high blood flow helps the embryo to invade the endometrium and gets attached deep into the sub endometrial layer by allowing placental attachment where maternal and fetal communication occur through placenta.

Whenever the sub endometrial layer is disturbed or removed due to inflammatory process cause by uterine infection (Endometritis) or due to vigorous removal of sub endometrial layer, also known as Basal lining, due to inadvertent vigorous curettage done during D&C process, either as a process of cleaning the endometrial cavity for abortion or sometimes for unwarranted therapeutic reasons. Many times the endometrium gets severely damaged resulting in intrauterine adhesions obliterating the uterine cavity, also known as ASHERMAN’S SYNDROME.

POOR ENDOMETRIUM is the result of above reasons and a lot of treatment modalities have been attempted to improve the same.

  • PRP therapy in the form of Hysteroscopic subendometrial injections, usage of uterine balloons and adhesion prevention barriers.
  • Hormone therapy with drugs and intrauterine instillation of GCSF to promote angiogenesis has been tried upon to improve POOR ENDOMETRIUM, and to help the patients to conceive better in natural conception as well as in IVF pregnancies.
