Interventional Ultrasound Procedures

Interventional USG procedures are surgeries/procedures done under Ultrasound guidance aiming for safe & precise treatment and help the patient recover and return home immediately as a Daycare Patient.

In this method procedures are done under sonographer’s guidance and are also known as INTERVENTIONAL ULTRASOUND PROCEDURES.

Gynaecology Procedures

Ultrasound Guided Surgeries are done when a difficult space has to be dissected. At RHEA IVF & WOMEN’S HOSPITAL, a new vagina was dissected out and created for an young girl who had ABSEN VAGINA & HIGH TRANSVERSE VAGINAL SEPTUM using an ultrasound guide dissection to create a vaginal space and to reconstruct a vagina in her.
USG guided THERMAL ABLATION OF ADENOMYOMA was done Hysteroscopically very recently.
USG guided biopsy of Soft tissues & Breast biopsies for suspected lesions.
Ultrasound guided Ovarian Cyst aspiration.

As a Passionate Gynecological Endoscopist and as an innovative thinker our Director/CEO DR. K SHANMUGAVADIVU (who is an experienced Sonologist for the past 22 years and runs the Government recognized PRASHANTH SCAN CENTRE and as a research Sonographer trained at WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY OF ST LOUIS, USA), has done many USG interventional surgeries to be doubly safe on Patients undergoing difficult surgeries.

Obstetrical Procedures

AMNIO INFUSION: USG guided Amnio Infusion is done for patients with very less Amniotic Fluid in the Womb where sterile fluid is infused through a Sterile ultrasound guided needle into the uterine cavity around the fetus to increase its viability & to reach an adequate gestational age which will allow the fetus to survive with an adequate NICU facilities.
AMNIOREDUCTION: Amnio reduction is done when excessive amniotic fluid is present in the womb compromising mother/s health due to pressure symptoms and mostly it has associated Fetal anomalies as the reason behind.
FETAL THERAPY PROCEDURES: These are procedures done by scan experts and Fetal therapists on growing fetuses in the Utero with anomalies or for suspected anomalies and also for certain treatments to fetuses in Utero. Chorionic villus sampling, Amniocentesis, Fetal reduction, Laser fetal intervention for TTTS (Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome) are the commonly done procedures by Fetal therapists. Apart from this many in utero treatments like Fetoscopic endo luminal tracheal occlusion FETO Repair of Myelomeningocele and shunt placement procedures & Intrauterine blood transfusion of Rh negative incompatible fetuses are done as Fetal intervention procedures.
